

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has advised the Executive Governor of Plateau State, Caleb Mutfwang to convert the security and economic challenges facing the state into opportunities for growth and development.
The Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang disclosed this on Friday during the groundbreaking of the Seed Potato Initiative at the Butura Cattle Ranch, operated by the Animal Science Training Centre, in Bokkos Local Government Area of the state.
According to the Governor, the agricultural project is expected to cover over 500 hectares and also empower more than 20,000 farmers, positioning Plateau as a major producer of seed potatoes for both local consumption and export.
Governor Mutfwang, who hails from the potato-producing area, said the initiative marked the beginning of a long-held vision to fully harness the state’s agricultural potential.
“I want everybody that is on the Plateau to prosper from the prosperity of Plateau, but anybody that will frustrate our prosperity, we will fight.
“The President (Bola Ahmed Tinubu) has said to me that turn the crisis in Plateau into profit,” he said.
He emphasised the potential of potato production, citing examples of people who have prospered from the crop, and urged farmers to adopt modern methods and cooperate with the government.
“So even in Bokkos, I want you to know that you are blessed. We are going to come back and talk about livestock. About livestock, we are going to start talking seriously about community ranching, so that in another three years, there will be no cows that is roaming around on the plateau.” He
