TRUMP THREAT: GUMI REPORTEDLY FLEES TO TURKEY

The Kaduna based Controversial Islamic cleric , Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, has reportedly fled Nigeria for Turkey as global tension rises following U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent warning to nations accused of sheltering terrorists and their sponsors

The sources close to the cleric claim he left the country quietly over the weekend, abandoning his usual online engagements and distancing himself from known sympathizers of armed groups. One associate reportedly quipped, the fear of Trump is the beginning of wisdom.

Gumi, a controversial Islamic scholar, has long drawn criticism for his open interactions with bandits and his calls for negotiation rather than military action. His stance, often seen as sympathetic to armed criminals, has placed him at the center of public outrage and security debates.

The security analysts however maintain that fleeing abroad may not guarantee safety or immunity. According to them, advanced intelligence-sharing systems and international counter-terrorism cooperation make it difficult for any suspect to remain hidden for long.

A security expert who preferred anonymity said the world has changed — technology, satellite tracking, and global security networks have made it almost impossible for anyone involved in terrorism or its financing to disappear.

While there has been no official confirmation from Gumi’s camp or the Nigerian authorities, the rumor of his sudden departure has sparked widespread reactions on social media, with many calling for a full-scale investigation into his activities and network.

As global powers tighten their stance against terrorism and its enablers, the alleged escape of Sheikh Gumi may soon become a test case for Nigeria’s commitment to international security cooperation and the rule of law.
