ST. MARY’S CATHOLIC ATTACKS: CHRISTIANS PRAY FOR ACCELERATED RELEASE OF ABDUCTED CHILDREN AND TEACHERS IN NIGER STATE

Following its resolve to ensure the quick release of children and teachers of the St. Mary’s Private Catholic Primary and Secondary school Papiri Agwarra local government area, Christians in Niger state have called on God to help accelerate their safe return.

The three days fasting and prayer programme organized by the Christian Association of Nigeria CAN Niger state, started on Friday across the 25 LGAs and was wrapped on Sunday up in 1st ECWA Church in Minna.

It should be noted that Christians who are drawn from various denomination converged to pray to God for the release of 265 children and teachers who were abducted on Friday 21st November by suspected terrorists in Papiri Agwarra LGA.

Guest speaker, Pastor Peter Ojo urged everyone Nigerian to continue to pray for Nigeria and Niger state saying, “praying still works”.

In his remarks,

Chairman,  Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Niger state chapter, Most Rev. Dr. Bulus Dauwa Yohanna charged Nigerlites irrespective of their religion, tribes or political affiliate to join the prayers to end insecurity in the State.

The Chairman who is also the Bishop of Kontagora Diocese and represented by his Deputy, Rev. Ezekiel Ibrahim urged all to set aside all differences and come together to pray for divine intervention and to defeat the common enemy, saying “let us worship passionately and pray boldly”.

Also, the Organization of Africa Instituted Churches (OAIC) have joined millions of Nigerians in solidarity to the Bishop of Kontagora Diocese, the families, children and teachers over the incident adding that, “no words can express the shock and pains the incident had caused, but we find strength and hope in our faith”

According to the Secretary, OAIC, Special Apostle Sunday Ojimi “our hearts are full of hopes and we are optimistic that the children and teachers will return safely be be reunited with their families soon.

“In unity, we share in the pains caused by the incident but our prayers are with you especially at this time of trials”.

He further said “we await the good news of their safe return”
