The Secretary to the Government of Niger State (SSG), Alhaji Abubakar Usman is deeply saddened and outraged by the brutal terrorist attacks carried out on peaceful communities in Borgu and Agwara Local Government Areas, attacks that claimed the lives of innocent men, women and children and left many families shattered and traumatized.

In a statement, the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Usman, described the attacks as heart-rending, wicked and a painful reminder of the cruelty of those who seek to destroy the peace of our land.

The SSG expressed profound sorrow over the loss of lives and extended the State Government’s deepest condolences to grieving families and communities.

“These are dark and painful moments for Niger State. The blood of innocent citizens has been unjustly spilled and families have been plunged into mourning. No cause can ever justify such inhumanity. The Government shares in your grief and your tears,” the SSG stated.

Alhaji Usman reassured the affected communities and all Nigerlites that the Government is fully committed to ending these senseless killings. He affirmed that the State Government, in close collaboration with the Federal Government and security agencies, has intensified security operations to rescue abducted persons, protect vulnerable communities and track down the perpetrators of these evil acts.

He emphasized that no effort will be spared until peace is fully restored and those responsible are made to face the full weight of the law. “The enemies of peace may think they can break our spirit, but they are mistaken. Niger State will not be conquered by fear,” he declared.

In a heartfelt appeal, the SSG called on the people of Borgu, Agwara and the entire State to remain calm, united and prayerful, urging them not to lose faith in the ability of Government to protect its citizens.

“At this moment of pain, we must stand together as one people. Let us not allow fear, anger, or misinformation to divide us. Government is on top of the situation and your safety remains our highest priority,” he said.

Alhaji Usman also appealed for cooperation with security agencies, encouraging residents to share credible information that could aid ongoing operations, while avoiding rumors capable of worsening the already fragile situation.

The Niger State Government once again reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to peace, security and the sanctity of human life, assuring the people that the sacrifices of the innocent will not be in vain and that a safer and more secure Niger State will emerge from this tragedy, the SSG state.
