The Speaker of the Niger State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Barr. (Dr.) Abdulmalik Mohammed Sarkin-Daji, accompanied by members of the 10th Assembly, attended a farewell colloquium in honor of Prof. Muhammad Yakubu Auna, outgoing Provost of the Niger State College of Education, Minna.
The colloquium was a fitting tribute to Prof. Auna’s remarkable tenure, showcasing his dedication to education and his impact on the College community.
The Speaker praised Prof. Auna’s outstanding contributions to education, describing him as a distinguished scholar, visionary leader, and illustrious son of Niger State.
He highlighted Prof. Auna’s remarkable achievements, including his rise to Senior Lecturer at Usman Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, and his leadership roles at Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai, and Niger State College of Education, Minna. Under Prof. Auna’s dynamic leadership, the College witnessed significant transformation, earning recognition as the “Most Innovative Top Best Valuable College of Education in Nigeria.”
The Speaker formally unveiled a Book of Essays and Monograph on behalf of the 27 Members of the 10th Assembly, accompanied by a donation of ₦1,350,000 (₦50,000 each from 27 members), totaling One Million, Three Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira only. Additionally, the Speaker appreciated the Students of the College with a donation of ₦1,000,000 (One Million Naira only). This gesture demonstrates the esteem in which Prof. Auna is held by the Assembly and the College community.
The Speaker wished Prof. Auna well in his future endeavors, expressing gratitude for his dedication to education and his support for the Assembly. He acknowledged Prof. Auna’s contributions to the development of education in Niger State and expressed confidence that his legacy would continue to inspire future generations.
Prof. Auna expressed profound gratitude to Almighty Allah for the privilege of serving as Provost of the Niger State College of Education, Minna, for eight years.
He acknowledged the support of the Speaker, Members of the Niger State House of Assembly, Government, the College community, and other stakeholders, which enabled him to achieve significant milestones during his tenure.
Prof. Auna highlighted the College’s achievements, including the fight against fake certificates, the establishment of the Model Secondary School, and the revival of the Alumni Association. He also commended the College community for their dedication and hard work, which contributed to the College’s success.
Prof. Auna sought forgiveness for any mistakes made during his tenure and expressed appreciation for the support he received from the government, the Assembly, and the College community
