The Niger State Ministry of Information and Orientation wishes to formally inform members of the public, particularly residents of Minna metropolis, motorcycle riders and tricycle operators, that the Niger State Government has approved the total lifting of the restriction on the movement of motorcycles and tricycles between the hours of 8:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.
This directive follows the approval of His Excellency, Farmer Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago, after a comprehensive review of the prevailing security situation in the State capital.
According to the Secretary to the Government of Niger State, Alhaji Abubakar Usman, the decision was taken “based on the strong recommendations of the State Security Committee” and reflects the significant and sustained improvement in the security landscape of Minna.
The Ministry notes that the initial restriction was a proactive security measure that “effectively achieved its primary objectives of curbing criminal activities and protecting lives and property.”
The Government acknowledges the professionalism of security agencies and the patience, cooperation and understanding shown by the people of Minna during the period of enforcement.
While normal movement has now been restored, the Niger State Government reiterates its unwavering commitment to public safety.
Security agencies and indeed the general public have been directed to remain vigilant and ensure strict compliance with all existing traffic and safety regulations.
Motorcycle and tricycle operators, as well as all residents, are therefore advised to conduct their activities in a lawful, orderly and responsible manner, as peace and security remain a shared responsibility.
The Ministry conveys the appreciation of the State Government to the resilient people of Minna, whose support has been instrumental in consolidating the peace currently enjoyed in the metropolis.
This policy decision further underscores the resolve of the Bago-led administration to continue implementing people-oriented policies and robust security initiatives that promote lasting peace, stability and socio-economic development across Niger State.
