NASARAWA STATE POLICE COMMAND ARREST KIDNAPPERS, RESCUE VICTIM

The Nasarawa State Police Command on Friday confirmed the arrest of six suspected kidnappers and rescued three abducted victims in a joint operation with local vigilante groups, authorities confirmed on Friday.

The Nasarawa State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel, who disclosed this development, said the operation stemmed from a complaint filed on January 7, 2026. The complaint stated that kidnappers had stormed Angara village, abducting two women and later a man, while leaving behind an infant.”

“Acting on this information, the Commissioner of Police, Nasarawa State Command, Shetima Jauro Mohammed, immediately ordered a manhunt for the perpetrators,” he said in a statement made available to journalists in Lafia, the state capital.” SP.Nansel declared

It will be recalled that the operation was carried out by officers attached to the Assakio Division in Lafia East Development Area, targeted criminal hideouts in Angara and Fadaman Bauna villages following distress reports from community members.

“The coordinated effort between our officers and local vigilantes led to the discovery of the kidnappers’ hideouts in Angara and Fadaman Bauna forests,” Nansel added. “The suspects were arrested and the victims rescued alive.”

The Police PRO confirmed that the three rescued victims two females and one male were found unhurt, promptly treated, and reunited with their families.

“We are grateful that no lives were lost, and these citizens have been returned safely to their loved ones,” the police spokesman said.

Nansel further noted that the suspects have confessed to their alleged crimes and have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for detailed interrogation and prosecution.

“The commissioner assures the good people of Nasarawa State of the Command’s sustained onslaught against all forms of criminality across the state,” he added.
