MITI SECURES MINISTERIAL APPROVAL TO OFFER ENGINEERING, SCIENCE AND MANAGEMENT PROGRAMMES

The Minna Institute of Technology and Innovation, MITI, has announced expansion of its academic programmes to include new courses in engineering, sciences, and management.

This follows an official communication received by the Rector, signed by the Executive Secretary of the National Board for Technical Education, NBTE, confirming that the Honourable Minister of Education has approved the upgrade of MITI as a National Diploma awarding institution.

With this approval, MITI is now authorised to run National Diploma programmes in engineering, sciences, management, and other fields in line with national technical education standards for polytechnics.

Reacting to the development, the Rector of the Institute, Engr. Dr. Mohammed Liman Yerima, expressed profound appreciation to the Niger State Government under the leadership of the Farmer Governor, His Excellency Mohammed Umar Bago, for the continuous and unprecedented support extended to the institution.

The Rector noted specifically the Governor’s assent to the amended enabling law conferring full Polytechnic status on MITI, as well as the approval of a permanent site for the institution describing both as landmark interventions that have positioned the institute for sustainable growth.

According to him, with this solid foundation and federal approval, MITI is now set to take a leading position as a centre of excellence in emerging and innovative technologies in Northern Nigeria.
