MEMBERS OF OPPOSITION PARTIES DEFECTED TO APC IN BENUE STATE

The ruling All Progressives Congress  (APC) in Benue State has received the Chieftains and members of the Peoples Democratic Party, African Democratic Congress and Labour Party who recently defected to the Party in Vandeikya Local Government Area of the State.

The State Chairman of the APC, Benjamin Omale, who received the defectors on Saturday declared that with the mass defection, opposition Parties no longer exist in Vandeikya LGA.

It will be recalled that Governor Hyacinth Alia hails from the LGA.

Moreso, former governorship aspirant on the platform of the PDP, Dominic Akaaha, and a former Commissioner for Information in the state, Cletus Akwaya, led several members from the ADC and Labour Party to join the APC.

Speaking with journalists after the ceremony, Omale attributed the defection of opposition members to the wide public acceptance and performance rating of the Alia administration.

According to him, the calibre of politicians who had joined the APC from the opposition demonstrated that there was no longer any serious opposition in the local government.

The APC chairman noted that the large-scale defection of opposition figures in Vandeikya LGA indicated that the people were satisfied with the “Renewed Hope” agenda of President Bola Tinubu and the quality of governance provided by Governor Alia.
