INSPECTION TOUR OF WATER FACILITIES AND OPERATIONAL ACTIVITIES BY THE MINISTRY OF WATER RESOURCES, NISWASEC, AND NIGER STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY COMMITTEE ON WATER RESOURCES AND IRRIGATION SERVICES

The Honourable Commissioner for Water Resources and Irrigation Services, Engr. Farouk Umaru Audi, on Thursday, 5th March 2026, led an inspection tour alongside the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Alhaji Akilu Musa Kuta; the Managing Director of the Niger State Water and Sewage Corporation (NISWASEC), Engr. Gimba D. Yisa; members of the Niger State House of Assembly Committee on Water Resources and Irrigation Services; and staff of the Ministry and NISWASEC.

The team visited several water facilities including Bosso Dam/Bosso Water Treatment Plant, Bahago Booster Station and valves, Dutsen Kura Booster Station, Tagwai Dam, and Chanchaga Water Works.

The tour was aimed at assessing the water production and distribution processes, inspecting valves vandalized by hoodlums, and identifying other factors affecting water supply at the facilities. This effort forms part of ongoing measures to improve water supply to Minna and other parts of Niger State. It also forms part of the statutory oversight responsibilities of the Committee, as stated by the Chairman during the visit.

During the inspection, members of the Committee commended the efforts of the Niger State Government and the workers operating the facilities for their dedication and commitment to providing potable drinking water to the public. The Committee also assured the State Government and the Ministry of its support in addressing the challenges facing the sector in order to prevent water scarcity across Niger State.

The Niger State Water and Sewage Corporation (NISWASEC) remains committed to providing clean, safe, and regular water supply to the people of Niger State.
