As the battle for the 2027 general elections gathered momentum and the political landscape heating up in the face of ongoing coalitions being formed across party divides.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) under the leadership of Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago is receiving endorsements for his reelection bid as well as Senator Mohammed Sani Musa (313) representing Niger East senatorial zone of the state.
The endorsement according to a Chieftain of APC in the state, Hon. Haruna Abubakar Arafat Magaji “will make it absolutely impossible for African Development Congress (ADC) to be a threat on the way of Governor Bago and that of Senator Mohammed Musa Sani second term bid during the 2027 general elections in Niger state.
Hon. Arafat described Bago as an established leader whose achievements in Health, Infrastructure and Agriculture spread across the 25 Local Government Areas of Niger State and beyond.
He stated that Bago has driven development in the State and achieved notable milestones in Agricultural development, where the administration has generated over #600 billion including related businesses in 2024, thereby attracting International Investors as well as DANGOTE GROUP to partner with the state.
In the area of infrastructural development, Hon. Arafat explained that Farmer Governor Bago approved the construction of a $100 million sports arena as well as construction of roads across the 25 Local Government Areas of the state.
“The implementing a retiree medical insurance package and approving an N80,000 minimum wage for state civil servants among many other projects in the state is another Giant strides by Farmer Governor Bago’s administration” Arafat explained
According to him, ” It is for these reasons that the Forum of Former Parliamentarians decided to endorse Governor Bago for re-election in 2027 general election, they cited his transformative leadership and developmental achievements as the reason for their decision “.
Additionally, Alhaji Isah Liman Kantigi, the 2023 governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has surprisingly endorsed Governor Bago, praising his leadership and developmental efforts.
Also, the APC in Niger state had earlier disclosed its decision to purchase governorship nomination form for Governor Bago, indicating the party’s confidence in his leadership and potential for re-election.
However, the party has also welcomed thousands of defectors from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP,) amongst others , thereby further solidifying its position in Niger State.
Speaking on Senator Mohammed Sani Musa’s ambition to again contest for his constituency seat, Hon.Arafat said the Distinguished Lawmaker has made significant contributions to his constituency, which include distribution of empowerment materials to over 500 beneficiaries and instituting a scholarship program for 1,000 indigent students.
Aside that, he explained that senator Musa has organized training for 140 youths, promoting digital literacy and skills development as well as Construction of roads, Ultra Modern Sport Stadium, Youth Development Centers and Primary Health Care Facilities among others.
With these developments, Governor Bago and Senator Sani Musa seem well-positioned for re-election in 2027, given their achievements and the support they have received from various quarters
