Two of the commissioner-nominees forwarded by Governor Hyacinth Alia for screening and confirmation has been rejected by Benue State House of Assembly
Those rejected are an Associate Professor of Law, Yangien Ornguga, and Mr. James Dwen.
Ornguga, a lecturer at Benue State University, Makurdi, was subjected to intense questioning after four petitions from some of his students alleging victimisation were presented to the Assembly.
However according to a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Tersoo Zamber, six other nominees were confirmed after the screening exercise.
The House resolved that the governor should submit replacements for the two rejected nominees for consideration.
Those confirmed include Hon. Theresa Odachi Ikwue, Dr. Benjamin Ashaver, Dr. Adamu Margaret Ijaguwa, Dr. Peter Oboh Egbodo, Denis Iyaighgba, and Dr. Paul Ejeh Ogwuche.
The Benue State House of Assembly Speaker, Hyacinth Dajoh however commended the lawmakers for conducting a thorough and transparent screening exercise and urged the confirmed commissioners to serve with integrity and commitment to the people of Benue State
