SAF- SHE ENTERPRISE FUNDS FREE WATER DISTRIBUTION IN THREE MINNA COMMUNITIES

From Rashidat AbdulRahman

A non-governmental organization, Saf-She Enterprise, has funded the provision of free water to residents in three communities within Minna metropolis, as part of efforts to alleviate the hardship caused by persistent water scarcity.

The initiative involved paying owners of commercial boreholes in the affected communities to allow residents fetch water free of charge for five hours. The intervention was designed to provide temporary relief to households that have long relied on water vendors, often at considerable cost, to meet their daily domestic needs.

Speaking on the development, the Chief Executive Officer of Saf-She Enterprise, Safiya Yaman Muhammad, said the gesture was aimed at cushioning the impact of inadequate public water supply by offsetting the cost burden on residents. She explained that the organization partnered with borehole operators to ensure uninterrupted access to clean and safe water during the designated period.

Muhammad noted that the intervention forms part of the organization’s broader humanitarian outreach to vulnerable communities, supported by well-meaning individuals and philanthropists across the state.

Beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the timely assistance, describing it as a welcome relief amid prevailing economic challenges. Some residents said the free water supply reduced financial pressure and eased the stress associated with sourcing water for household use.

Community leaders also commended the initiative, urging for sustained interventions and stronger partnerships to address recurring water supply challenges affecting communities within the Minna metropolis.
