
The Niger State Commissioner for Water Resources and Irrigation Services, Farouk Umaru Audi, has congratulated Muslims in Niger State, across Nigeria, and around the world on the commencement of the holy month of Ramadan 1447 AH, which began on February 18, 2026.
In a goodwill message, the commissioner described Ramadan as a sacred and spiritually uplifting period of immense significance to Muslims globally, noting that it is a season that strengthens faith and moral consciousness among the faithful.
He said the blessed month is devoted to fasting, prayers, self-reflection, and acts of charity, adding that it offers a profound opportunity for personal growth, renewed faith, and deeper empathy for the less privileged in society.
According to him, Ramadan also serves as a powerful reminder of enduring values such as discipline, compassion, sacrifice, and communal harmony—virtues that are essential for building a peaceful and progressive society.
Engineer Audi urged Muslims and adherents of other faiths to embrace unity and mutual understanding as foundations for sustainable peace and development.
He further called on citizens to support government initiatives aimed at addressing socio-economic challenges, particularly efforts to ensure the provision of safe and potable drinking water across the state.
The commissioner encouraged residents to draw inspiration from the lessons of Ramadan which signifies patience, generosity, tolerance, and collective responsibility to contribute meaningfully to the water revitalization vision of Farmer Governor Muhammad Umaru Bago.
He concluded by wishing Muslim faithful a spiritually fulfilling Ramadan filled with peace, abundant blessings, and renewed hope for a brighter future.
