The Abia State Governor, Alex Otti has been called upon by pensioners to avoid wasting money on 2027 re-election campaigns, saying his achievements will attract people’s votes for him.
The Pensioners in Abia State under the aegis of Concerned Abia Pensioners who made the appeal during their Bi-weekly meeting in Umuahia recently, said it would be hard to rig out Governor Alex Otti in 2027 polls.
It will be recalled that the Abia pensioners were subjected to untold hardship during the previous administrations in the state because of alleged non-payment of their pensions but the story is different under Gov. Alex Otti administration.
The Coordinator of the retirees in Abia State, Emeka Okezie however, reminded the Governor of the promise he made in 2025 to pay them their gratuity, expressing the hope that the Governor would do the needful.
“The Governor should not waste money campaigning. He has done more than expected within the space of less than three years,” he said.
The pensioners also appealed to Abia State government to prevail on the outgoing executive of the NUP in the state to open the NUP office, lamenting that the outgoing NUP leadership had locked up the office for some years, forcing the pensioners to hold meetings in open field.
