
Tang Yijun, the Chinese former Minister of Justice has been sentenced to life Imprisonment.

The former Minister was sentenced by Xiamen Intermediate People’s Court in the southeastern coastal Fujian province on Monday February 2 2026, for corruption.
He reportedly accepted illegal property worth more than 137 million yuan ($19.71 million) between 2006 and 2022, and abused his position to seek benefits for entities and individuals in areas such as company listings, land buybacks, bank loan and case handling,
Tang’s actions according to the Court constituted the crime of bribery”, and also deprived him of political rights for life, and had all his personal properties confiscated, Hindu reports.
It will be recalled that in April 2024, Tang came under investigation for alleged corruption, and was later expelled from the Communist Party.
The 64-year-old began his career in eastern Zhejiang province, where he spent more than three decades and rose to become province’s deputy Communist Party chief.
In October 2017, Tang became the Governor of Liaoning before his appointment as Minister of Justice in 2020.
