SA, SSAs EXPRESS DEEP SYMPATHY WITH NUJ PRESIDENT, GOMBE COUNCIL OVER TRAGIC LOSS OF SEVEN MEMBERS 

The Special Advisers and Special Assistants have expressed deep sympathy with the President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Comrade Alhassan Yahya, and the Gombe State Council of the NUJ over the tragic death of seven members of the Union who lost their lives in a fatal road accident.

In a statement issued on their behalf, the Special Advisers and Special Assistants described the incident as a heartbreaking and painful loss to the NUJ family, the journalism profession, and the nation at large.

They noted that the deceased journalists were dedicated professionals who served with commitment, integrity, and courage, contributing significantly to the promotion of responsible journalism and democratic development in Gombe State and Nigeria.

According to the statement, the untimely death of the seven journalists has created a huge vacuum within the Union, particularly at a time when the role of the media remains critical to national development, accountability, and good governance.

The Special Advisers and Special Assistants extended their heartfelt condolences to Comrade Alhassan Yahya, the leadership and members of the Gombe State NUJ Council, the families of the deceased, and the entire media community.

They prayed that Almighty Allah grants the families, colleagues, and friends of the departed journalists the strength and fortitude to bear the irreparable loss, while also comforting the NUJ leadership at this difficult moment.

The statement further called on journalists across the country to remain united and prayerful, urging members of the Union to honour the memories of the departed colleagues by upholding professionalism, ethical journalism, and dedication to duty.

It concluded with prayers for the repose of the souls of the deceased journalists, asking Almighty Allah to forgive their shortcomings and grant them eternal rest.
