KEY GOVERNANCE AND ACCOUNTABILITY SESSIONS MARK DAY FIVE OF EXECUTIVE RETREAT

The 8-Day Executive Retreat for Commissioners-Designate, Chairmen-Elect and their Deputies, Special Advisers, and Permanent Secretaries entered its fifth day today, Monday, 8th December 2025, at the Hauwa Isah Wali Multi-Purpose Hall, Government House, Minna.

The day featured a series of impactful presentations delivered by key resource persons from critical governance and regulatory institutions. Mr. Kennedy Owuteme, the ICPC State Commissioner, together with Mrs. Deborah Charles, the State Director of the Code of Conduct Bureau, provided comprehensive insights on the Code of Conduct for Public Officers, emphasizing integrity, accountability and adherence to ethical standards in public service.

Shehu Jibrin, Permanent Secretary of the Public Procurement Board, discussed the Public Procurement Compliance Act, highlighting the importance of transparency, due process and value-for-money in Government procurement operations.

In another session, Umar Muye, Permanent Secretary of the Debt Management Office, presented on Debt Management Strategies for Sustainable Development, drawing lessons from global best practices to guide the State in maintaining a healthy and sustainable debt profile.

Participants engaged actively with the resource persons through questions and discussions, deepening understanding and strengthening capacity for efficient public service delivery.

The sessions collectively reinforced the principles of good governance, ethical leadership and result-oriented public administration for the incoming Government officials.
