As the clock ticks toward the 2027 general election, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is poised to undertake a significant reshuffle of his cabinet.
The Source who requested anonymity, said that the decision comes amid escalating insecurity and concerns over the performance of certain ministers.
According to him, many ministers are currently engaged in frantic efforts to secure their positions, lobbying for retention in the face of impending changes.
Findings suggest that the president’s decision to remove certain cabinet members is driven by growing security concerns, non performance as well as reports from the Department of State Security Services (DSS) regarding the academic credentials of some ministers.
Among the first casualties of this impending reshuffle is the former Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, who was recently asked to resign. While the official narrative from the president’s office cites health reasons for his departure, human rights activist Omoyele Sowore has contradicted this, alleging that Abubakar was compelled to step down at the behest of President Tinubu.
It will be recalled that following Abubakar’s exit, General Christopher Gwabin Musa was appointed as the new Minister of Defence.
Insider sources indicate that President Tinubu’s resolve to reorganise his cabinet is not merely a matter of performance optimisation; it is also an effort to safeguard the integrity and image of his administration amidst the rising tide of insecurity.

With the forthcoming general elections looming on the horizon, it was gathered that the president appears determined to present a capable and united front.
However, the coming weeks will tell as ministers scramble to either solidify their positions or prepare for the uncertainty that comes with potential dismissal. For now, Starnews reports that the tension in the air is unmistakable, and all eyes are on President Tinubu as he navigates this challenging political landscape.
