
No fewer than four (4) persons suspected to be rendering arms couriers services to bandits operating in different parts of Kwara State have been arrested by Operative of the State Police Command
The suspects arrested are Owolaramfe Rafiu, (38 years), Musa Mohammed (20 years), Adam Alhaji Lawal (18 years) and Musa Shuaibu (45 years).
The suspects according to the commissioner of police in charge of the state, CP Adekimi Ojo, were arrested during the stop and-search conducted by Police Operatives along the Gbugbu/Patigi road in Kwara state.
He said 100 rounds of live AK-47 ammunition and assorted charms concealed by the suspects in personal effects, were recovered from them.
Briefing journalists on Friday on the major breakthroughs recorded by the state’s police command in recent times, the CP Ojo, said one of the suspects, Mohammed had confessed that the ammunition was collected from Nasarawa state for delivery to an unnamed contact in Gbugbu.

“At about 0730hrs, a police patrol team attached to the Lafiagi area command, while conducting routine stop-and-search along the Gbugbu/Patigi Road, intercepted a Toyota Corolla with registration EP 434 ABC, driven by Owolaramfe Rafiu.
“Upon searching the vehicle, operatives recovered 100 rounds of live AK-47 ammunition concealed among personal effects, along with various charms.
“The four occupants of the vehicle Musa Mohammed, Adam Alhaji Lawal, and Musa Shaibu were arrested immediately.
“During preliminary interrogation, Musa Mohammed confessed that the ammunition was collected from Nasarawa state for delivery to an unnamed contact in Gbugbu.
“A coordinated effort is underway to identify and apprehend the intended
receiver of the ammunition. The suspects remain in custody, and the recovered exhibits have been secured for further investigation and prosecution,” he said.
