CBN KEEPS INTEREST RATE AT 27..

                OLAYEMI CARDOSO                                                   CBN GOVERNOR

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) monetary policy committee has retained the country’s monetary policy rate (MPR) at 27 percent.

The CBN Governor, Olayemi Cardoso made announcement at a news conference on Tuesday during the committee’s 303rd meeting in Abuja.

The MPR serves as the baseline interest rate in an economy; other interest rates used within the economy are built on it.

The MPC’s decision comes after Nigeria’s inflation rate dropped to 16.05 percent in October 2025.

Speaking at the media briefing, Cardoso said the committee members voted to retain the MPR at 27 percent, adjust the asymmetric corridor to +50 and -450 basis points around the MPR.
