Niger State House of Assembly has begun screening nominees forwarded for appointment into the State Executive Council.
Among them is Dr. Murtala Muhammad Bagana, a Public Health Physician and development expert with over 15 years of experience across global non governmental organizations and the private sector. During his appearance before the legislators, Dr. Bagana pledged to serve with dedication and contribute meaningfully to the state’s progress.
Dr. Bagana currently serves as the Special Adviser on Special Duties to the Farmer Governor of Niger State, providing strategic support on health, environmental issues, and the Sustainable Development Goals.
His previous roles include serving as Senior Technical Adviser at the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency, where he contributed significantly to Nigeria’s polio eradication efforts, new vaccine introductions, routine immunization, and major health policy reforms.
A graduate of Ahmadu Bello University Medical School, Zaria, Dr. Bagana also holds master’s degrees in Public Health (MPH) and International Business Administration (MBA) from universities in the United States.
Speaking with journalists after his screening, he expressed appreciation to the Farmer Governor, Mohammed Umar Bago, for the confidence reposed in him, and thanked the lawmakers for their support throughout the process.
