MOKWA FLOOD:GROUP SPONSOR 88 PUPILS,TO TRAIN 41 WIDOWS/CHILDREN ON SKILL ACQUISITION.

Mokwa Flood Relief Support Group has issued cheques to school proprietors for the sponsoring of Eighty Eight children,g victims of flood in Mokwa local government area of Niger State.

The group has also issued cheques to some training institutes for the skill acquisition training of Forty One widows and children on Tailoring, Catering as well as Soap Making.

Flagging off the issuance of cheques and school materials to the beneficiaries at Beyge primary school Mokwa,Chairman of the Flood Relief Support Group,Ahmed Nasir,Assistant Controller General of Customs Rtd,(ACGC),said the gesture was aimed to alleviate the suffering of the survivors of the flood .

Former ACGC explained that since the Flood wrecked havoc on Mokwa community,children of the victims have been dropped out from school, widows couldn’t take care of their immediate family.

He disclosed that no fewer than (88) pupils would be sponsor from Nursery, Primary up to Secondary school level, while,(41) widows and children would be trained on skill acquisition such as Tailoring, Catering and Soap Making.

According to Nasir”.If you educate a child, you are educating humanity,if you give food to a widow, you are give food to family”.He said.

The former Customs boss hinted that the group comprised of sons and daughters of Mokwa, adding that cash donations were dulled out by their friends across the country.

Ahmed used the opportunity to called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to redeem the earlier pledge of N2 billion naira, construction of resettlement as well as provision of 15 MVA transformer,made through the Vice-president, Senator Kashim Shettima when he visited Mokwa to commiserate with the victims.

He had earlier lauded governor Muhammad Umaru Bago for putting smile on the faces of the flood victims.

Nasir’s words”. Governor Bago has made us proud,Bago is a talk and do gentle man,he has provided cash to majority of victims to seek for alternative shelter pending the completion of resettlement,we were overwhelmed over the gesture”.He stated.

In his remarks,the Ndalele of Mokwa, Alhaji Muhammadu Shaba Aliyu, expressed delight over the unwavering support from the indigene of Mokwa, saying that the support would go along way to uplift the livelihoods of flood victims who have been devastated as a result of the flood.

The traditional leader also appealed to the federal government to as a matter of urgency redeem all it’s earlier pledges,he further appreciated government at all levels,NGO’s,spirited individuals who made donations as well as commiserated with the flood victims during their trying time.

The Head of Hausa Community in Mokwa,Alhaji Bala Tanko,who spoke through Biliyaminu Shahu,thanked the group for the humanitarian gesture, promising that the Hausa Community resident of Mokwa would remain loyal to the constituted authorities.

Responding on behalf of the school proprietors, Suleiman Jibrin, Principal of Hakimi Aliyu Secondary school Mokwa, urged for the sustainence of the sponsorship, and promised to justify the confidence reposed on them by ensuring that all the pupils were impacted positively.
