The National Agency For the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), Niger State Command said it would collaborate with other security agencies and stakeholders in the state to curtail the scourge of human trafficking in the State.
The Commander, also requested for collaboration with other security agencies and members of the Public to make the state inhabitable for traffickers.
Mr. Awhen, stated this while Fielding Questions from Journalists in his office in Minna.
He maintained that the Command will collaborate with other stakeholders to reduce the scourge of trafficking in the state to it’s bearest minimum. The commander call on the public to report cases of trafficking in Persons to the command at women multipurpose center by old secretariat Minna, Niger State for prompt action. “The commander also stated that NAPTIP is new in Niger State and that they have visited other sister security Agencies and stakeholders in the state.
He further stated that it is a crime to employ a child under 12 years as a domestic worker and that it is also a crime to employ a child under 18 years to do any work that is exploitative, injurious or hazardous to the development of the child.
The Commander added that it is a crime for a child to be working while the money is paid to an agent or family member.
He added that the Agency needs vital information from the public to bring these traffickers to justice.
Mr. Awhen, advised perpetrators to desist or they should be prepared to incur the full wrath of the law.
According to the NAPTIP Boss, he assumed duty at the newly created command as the first commander in Niger state on the 18th August 2025. He stated that Niger State is a source and Transit root for traffickers, due to it’s geo political location bordering other states and countries.
